Kirsten received her B.A. in Political Science from Georgia State University before finding a passion for teaching in South Korea. Her professional exploration took her to pursue advancement in her teaching knowledge in London, U.K.

In 2008, she returned to her hometown of Boston for her Master’s in Education at the University of Massachusetts. She taught in Boston, primarily students with moderate disabilities and students who speak English as a second language. The granddaughter of an historian, Kirsten enjoys learning about and looking at our shared history as a tool to improve society, gain understanding and facilitate cooperation. While in Boston, she arranged for her students to meet two primary sources in U.S. history- a Freedom Rider, and Ruby Bridges’ teacher- as well as bringing her students to performances on the history of American music at the House of Blues.

In 2015 she journeyed back to South Korea to teach ESL conversation and four skills courses at a University near Busan, before recently calling Los Angeles her new home. She looks forward to engaging with young people in their pursuit of knowledge. She enjoys learning about her environment, history, nature and community in order to create social change for the betterment of humankind.
