Ms. Rose Lyn
Rose Lyn Castro grew up in San Diego, California, and then moved to Los Angeles to attend the University of California Los Angeles. During her time there, she volunteered as a tutor and mentor to local high school students with the UCLA Community Programs Office. There she earned a B.A. in International Development Studies with a minor in Asian American Studies. Frustrated with the inequities in education, she joined Teach For America, teaching Pre-Kindergarten in Las Vegas. Upon completing her M.Ed. studies in Early Childhood Education at the University of Nevada Las Vegas and her TFA corps member term, she came back to Los Angeles to work in student retention and counseling services.
Wanting to return to the classroom, Rose Lyn received her M.A. in Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University and has spent the past five years teaching Transitional Kindergarten and K-2 math. She is passionate about making education relevant and engaging. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys reading, trying new food, giving back to her alma maters and community organizations, and visiting museums and libraries.
